FAQs
Websites
I've never had a website before. How does it work?+
That's fine, most people haven't. You tell us about your business and what you want the site to do. We come back with a website plan and a price for the project. You see the site on a private preview while we build it, and nothing goes live until you've approved it.
How much does a website cost?+
Websites start from $2,500, depending on how many pages you need and what they have to do. Online shops, memberships and other sites with more functionality are quoted per project, and usually start from about $5,000. All prices are in Australian dollars.
How long does it take?+
It depends on the size of the site and the quality of the content you have ready to go. A basic website typically takes around 3 to 4 weeks from beginning to end.
What is a domain name, and what is web hosting?+
A domain is the address people type to find you, like grongtech.com.au. Hosting is where your site's files live, on a server that's switched on all day, every day.
Do I need my own domain and hosting?+
Your domain should be registered in your name, and we'll help you do that. For hosting, we can host your site for you, or point you to good hosting and help you set it up yourself. Either way the site belongs to you, and we don't believe in tying clients to us.
Will my website work on phones?+
Yes. Every site we build works on phones, tablets and computers, and loads fast.
Do you build online shops?+
Yes. Each shop is quoted on its own.
Can I edit the site myself?+
Yes. If you want to edit the site yourself, tell us at the start so we can build it into the project.
What is search engine optimisation (SEO)?+
It's about making your site easier for Google to understand and rank. We set up the groundwork: page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, structured data, and your site in Google Search Console. If your business has a location or service area, we'll also walk you through setting up your Google Business Profile.
Can you help with social media and email marketing?+
That's not what we do. We build the website and make the videos, and we can connect your site to the social media accounts you already have.
Do you write the content for my site?+
You know your business best, so we ask you to bring the words. If you get stuck, we'll help you shape them.
Can you design my logo?+
We don't design logos, but we can introduce you to graphic designers we trust.
Video
What do I need to send you for a video edit?+
Whatever you have. A recorded interview, raw footage, a transcript, a rough idea, music. Tell us what you've got and what you need, and we can go from there.
Can you work with footage I've already filmed?+
Yes. Most formats are fine, and if yours is unusual we'll tell you before you send everything.
How many rounds of changes do I get?+
Changes are part of the process. We agree the number of rounds when we quote the project, and extra rounds are quoted separately.
How long does an edit take?+
It depends on the length and the complexity. A short social video can take a few days, and an interview edit or explainer usually takes about a week or two once we have everything we need. We'll give you a date when we quote.
How much does video cost?+
Video is quoted per project, based on the length, how much footage there is and how much work it needs. Tell us what you've got and we'll give you a price for the project.
Website care
What is website care?+
We look after your site once it's built. We watch it around the clock, back it up, keep it up to date and send you a short report every month. If something breaks, you've got someone to turn to. It works for WordPress sites and static sites.
How much does website care cost?+
Plans start from $65 a month. Plus is $155 and Pro is $279, and they add things like security checks, speed monitoring and hours for small changes. There are no contracts, and you can cancel any time. All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
Do I need website care?+
You don't have to have it. But a website needs looking after: software gets updates, domains and security certificates expire, and somebody has to notice when the site goes down. If you'd rather not worry about that, that's what we're for.
Can you look after a website you didn't build?+
Yes, if it's a WordPress site or a static site, once we've had a look. There's a one-time setup fee of $200 for that. Other website builders aren't something we take on.
What if I need more changes than my plan includes?+
Extra work is $80 an hour, or $120 an hour when it involves custom code. Included hours are for small changes like swapping text or replacing an image. New pages and bigger jobs are quoted.
Can I cancel website care?+
Any time. There are no contracts, and your plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for. We don't give pro rata refunds.
How do I pay?+
Plans are billed monthly in advance. You can pay by direct debit or by card, or we can send you an invoice each month.
